Pingu in the City is an amazing show with plenty of laughs. The characters are charming and the humor is top notch. The mimicking of the claymation stayed true to the original concept and the lack of dialogue makes this a universally appealing anime with no language barrier. Pingu and his family move from their small village to the big city; in which there are many people with many different occupations. The ever-curious Pingu tries to join them at their jobs, but his mischievous side gets the better of him and he ends up messing things up. Pingu and Pinga begin figure skating after watching skaters at the rink, and as the crowd cheers them on, the two take their ice show into to the city, where the residents join in. Notes[edit]
No official episode title appears on screen in the original series, so the lists were initially created from the titles used on various official DVD releases. The main episode titles for series 1 to 4 were taken from the official Japanese DVD releases and the alternative titles from the official European DVD releases, as well as titles used on BBC VHS releases. Episode titles for series 5 and 6 were taken from the European DVD releases. Changes have subsequently been made to these titles to bring them more into line with English usage and practice (e.g. to correct spelling and grammar) and to relate them to the titles used on UK DVDs produced by HIT Entertainment. Alternative titles have also been appropriately added, amended, etc. Title data have also been supplemented with information from other sources, such as the titles used by the BBC for television broadcasts and on video tapes.
In the UK, the BBC appears never to have broadcast any of the normal 5-minute episodes from the latter half of series 3 (3.14 – 3.26) or from series 4 (4.1 – 4.26).[2] However, all the episodes from the latter half of series 3 (3.14 - 3.26) have been featured on BBC produced videos. Of the episodes that have been broadcast, all have been broadcast since 4 September 2006 inclusive.
Pingu In The City Episode 9
- Since 2007, in addition to standalone episodes the BBC, Nick Jr and APTN in Canada have been showing The Pingu Show ('Pingu welcomes viewers to his secret whale-shaped funhouse for a show packed with brand new sketches, two classic episodes, narrated by Marc Silk and the chance to learn more about the amazing world of penguins in Penguin Facts').[3]
Episodes of Pingu in the City have their names taken from Romanized versions of their Japanese names.

Pingu in the City (Japanese: ピングー in ザ・シティHepburn: Pingū in za Shiti) (also known as Pingu: Pingu in the City) is a Japanese computer-animated television series produced by Polygon Pictures and Dandelion Animation Studios in collaboration with Mattel Creations. It is based on the stop-motion television series Pingu by HIT Entertainment and The Pygos Group. The series first aired on all NHK stations in Japan from October 2017 to March 30, 2019.
Premise[edit]
The series is adapted from the famous British-Swiss cartoon Pingu created in 1986 by Otmar Gutmann. In the series, Pingu and his family move from their home in the Antarctic to a large city, where the inhabitants are all very different. The mischievous and curious Pingu makes a big effort to help the citizens with their jobs, but often messes up.
Production[edit]
The series was produced by Polygon Pictures in the same style of the original stop-motion series through computer animation.[1] It was directed by Naomi Iwata and written by both Kimiko Ueno and Shigenori Tanabe, with music by Ken Arai.[2] It features voices by Ryota Iwasaki and Fumiya Tanaka, in a similar style to Carlo Bonomi, David Sant and Marcello Magni, who voiced characters in the original series.[citation needed]
International airings[edit]
The series was first screened outside of Japan at the MIPJunior 2017 event at Cannes.[3] The series will be distributed by Sony Creative in North America and Mattel in China.[4][better source needed] In Australia, the show premiered on June 4, 2018 on ABC Kids, making that date Pingu’s return to Australian television. In the United States, the show was first screened at the Chicago International Television Festival[5] and the 2018 Animation Block Party.[6] A second season premiered from October 6, 2018 (which was before the 1st anniversary of the show) to March 30, 2019.[7] In the United Kingdom, the show premiered on February 25, 2019 on ITVBe's preschool block LittleBe. In Brazil the show premiered in April 2019 through the preschool channel Gloobinho.[8]
