Using multiple languages at this time of the internet is very common. Many need to use 2-3 languages on the same computer. While computer language could be different, when it comes to editing, using a different language is possible. Just like how we installed Japanese fonts on Windows 10, in this guide we will share how to install the Zawgyi keyboard on Windows 10. Once installed you will be able to switch between your native, language and the Zawgyi keyboard, i.e., Myanmar or Burmese Font on Windows 10.

Install Zawgyi Keyboard in Windows 10
Just before we start, Myanmar and Burma (old name) are the same. Zawgyi, on the other hand, refers to the non-Unicode typeface for the Burmese script. So when we say Burmese Keyboard or Zawgyi Keyboard, they all mean the same. In Windows when you type Zawgyi, nothing shows up. Instead, you need to type Burmese or Myanmar.
There are three ways you can do this:
- Install Zawgyi or Burmese Keyboard using Time and Language
- Type in Zawgyi or Burmese using native Keyboard
- Use Physical Burmese Keyboard in Windows 10
- Install Zawgyi Font in Windows 10 (Myanmar/Burmese)
It is possible that you have an English or a native keyboard. If you are planning to use this with Burmese keyboard on your computer, make sure you know how to use it properly. Follow the steps to install Windows 10 Burmese keyboard.
- Open Settings > Language > Add a Language
- In the popup window, type Burmese and the keyboard listing will show up.
- Select it, and click Next.
- Click on the install button.
Do note that this language doesn’t support a lot of other features. Post this; it will download the packages, and install it. Once installed, click on the language, and then click on Options.
There are two types of keyboard layout here — Visual order and the Phonetic order. If you click on the language icon on the system tray or use Windows button + spacebar, you can switch between keyboards. Change it, and see which keyboard layout works for you.
How to type in Zawgyi using English Keyboard
It’s straightforward. First, switch the language using Windows button + spacebar. If you see Burmese instead of “ENG” on the taskbar, whatever you type will be in Burmese. Now open notepad, and type something using the keyboard to figure out how everything will work.
How to use Zawgyi/Burmese Physical Keyboard in Windows
When you plug a Burmese keyboard to Windows 10 and switch language, it should work straight away. You don’t need any new configuration, and it’s not as complicated as the Japanese keyboard.
